The three organizations that appeal to me and would be
an area of interest for either volunteer opportunities and/or a job opportunity
are National Association Education Young Children (NAEYC), Peppers Ranch Foster
Care Community and Feed the Children. I chose all three organizations because
of the work each of them do for the care and well-being of children. Pepper’s
Ranch and Feed the Children are state (Oklahoma) based organizations that
advocate for children to prevent hunger, neglect and abuse.
NAEYC has a “Senior Assessor” position open. I would
absolutely love to assess programs. One of my many passions is having an
opportunity to give positive feedback or suggestions to make the program
better. Working for NAEYC would be an opportunity to promote high-quality early
learning programs for children, while gaining experience and knowledge in my
chosen field through a different avenue. The minimum requirements for this position
are: a minimum of a baccalaureate
degree, specialized college credits in child development, 5 years professional
experience serving children from birth through age 8, understanding the NAEYC
Accreditation process and demonstrating observation skills, communication
skills and technological skills related to data intake.
Feed the Children did not have any current openings for positions of interest to me. I would like to work hands on in the United States and abroad with local organizations that assist in helping families who are in poverty; working together to end childhood hunger (Feed the Children, 2020).

Peppers Ranch is a long-term residential care
providing quality, planned care for abused and neglected boys. Though this
organization does not have any current job openings, there is an opportunity to
volunteer. The volunteer opportunities are many and the skills are few. It is
an excellent way to share talents while meeting the needs of this community. I
would love to give my time to an organization that gives back so much love to
children in need.

I liked you blog this week. Peppers Ranch sounds like it does really important work and benefits a lot of children in need. The Senior assessor position does sound like a good fit, it would be pretty great to work for an organization like NAEYC.
ReplyDeleteHi Karrie,
ReplyDeleteI currently work in a role in which I assess programs - it is a such a great experience and I continue to learn so much from the programs I assess and those I mentor. It is so interesting to observe and learn different cultures of each center community - things I have learned and observed that are successful have only increased the resources I have to share. It is so rewarding.
